I posted a Hyperborean Ranger custom class last May which used a lot of house rules. Here’s a non-spellcasting version – essentially the ACKS Player’s Companion Elven Ranger with the “Elf” bits removed.
HD 1 (d6), Fighting 2 (3 trade-offs), Thievery 1.
Base XP: 500 + 1000 (+
450 375) + 200 = 2150 2075 XP for 2nd level.
All Fighting Styles: Two-weapon style, two-handed weapons, weapon & shield.
Broad Weapon Selection: All missile weapons, any one-handed melee weapon.
Broad Armour Selection: Chain armour or lighter (including shields).
Custom Powers: Accuracy Bonus, Precise Shot, Difficult to Spot, Tracking, Beast Friendship, & Animal Reflexes @ 1st; Experience & Hardiness @ 5th. Damage bonus to ranged only.
Maximum Level: 14th.
Prime Requisite: Strength and Dexterity.
Requirements: STR & DEX 9 or more.
Proficiencies: Alertness, Ambushing, Animal Husbandry, Armour Training, Blind Fighting, Climbing, Eavesdropping, Endurance, Fighting Style, Land Surveying, Mapping, Mountaineering, Naturalism, Navigation, Otherworldly Enemies, Passing Without Trace, Precise Shooting, Riding, Running, Skirmishing, Sniping, Survival, Swashbuckling, Tracking, Trapping, Wakefulness, Weapon Finesse, Weapon Focus.
Attack Throws: As Fighter.
Saving Throws: As Fighter.

Stronghold: Border Fort (as Explorer).
